Carotid Body Tumor

Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are rare, non-cancerous growths that develop in the carotid body, a small cluster of cells located near the carotid artery bifurcation in the neck. These tumors arise from the chemoreceptor cells that monitor blood oxygen levels and help regulate breathing.
