Adrenocortical cancer, also known as adrenal cortex carcinoma, is a rare type of cancer that develops in the adrenal glands. These glands, located on top of each kidney, produce hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone, and sex hormones. Adrenocortical cancer typically originates in the cortex (outer layer) of the adrenal glands.
